I attended University of Toronto for my undergraduate education, and received my Bachelor of Science with Honors in Human Biology and Nutritional Sciences in 1999. I then obtained my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 2003. After graduating from Dental School, I completed a post-doctoral program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2004. Following my residency, I moved back to Toronto and have been in private practice since then.
In addition to private practice, I have also joined University of Toronto (Faculty of Dentistry) since 2007 on a part-time basis in the position of clinical instructor in the Department of Periodontics.
My goal as a dentist is to provide preventive and comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages. I believe that it is essential to really listen to my patients and understand their individual needs and concerns. I never developed dental anxiety, and therefore want to help others overcome their fear and apprehension of dentistry and enhance their health and smiles in a minimally invasive approach.
Joining Dr. Colson's team has enabled me to incorporate wellness based dentistry in a comfortable and caring atmosphere. My focus is to educate my patients about their oral health, which is the integral part of our overall well being. Furthermore, I am passionate about working with pediatrics. Children's experiences in the dental chair are of the utmost importance to me, and my goal is to make their visit as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
During my academic years, I have contributed to research and publications in scientific journals. As I believe in lifelong learning, I have also taken extensive continuing education courses in dentistry across Canada, US A and Europe, and was nominated for the 2014 Doctor’s Choice Award. I have received certifications in various disciplines in dentistry which include:
I am also an active member of the Ontario Dental Association (ODA), the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), American Dental Association (ADA), Academy of General dentistry (AGD), and Toronto Central Dental Society.
